Question
Can I tile on top of an existing tiled floor?
Answer
Yes. You would need to use the correct flexible adhesive and grout and make sure that the tiles being tiled onto are well secured and are bedded solidly.
Question
What is the difference between an electric and a power shower?
Answer
An electric shower gives you instant hot water, directly from a cold water supply and heats as it is used, so you don’t need to have a stored hot water supply.
A power shower features a pump and integrated shower control and requires a low pressure cistern fed supply of stored hot and cold water.
Question
What is the difference between adhesive and grout when tiling?
Answer
The adhesive is the glue with which the tiles are laid on the ground or fixed to a wall. The type of adhesive required depends on the surface to which they are being fixed. The grout then is used to fill in the gaps between each of the tiles.
Question
What does a high pressure water system mean?
Answer
In Ireland we are commonly used to having a gravity fed water system in our homes, meaning that if the water pressure in our area is low or erratic then the water pressure in our taps will also be low. A high pressure water system in a house means that the water to showers, taps, toilets etc are all boosted and the pressure is always high. You will find that most hotels will have high pressure water systems. A less expensive alternative is to install a booster pump in the hot press. This will also increase the water pressure but this is usually only for showers, and body jet panels.
Question
What type of tile is recommended for use with under floor heating?
Answer
Any tile can be used but the thicker the tile the better, as it will maintain the heat for longer. Marble and porcelain are a popular choice as the heat does not escape through the tile as quickly.

Question
What is the difference between a Jacuzzi and a whirlpool bath?
Answer
‘Jacuzzi jet systems deliver very high volumes of water mixed with air to give you the ultimate hydrotherapy experience.’ Effective hydrotherapy can help relieve the symptoms of back problems, arthritis, and rheumatism and is used regularly in spas and hospitals.
Whirlpool baths on the other hand, produce high water pressure through the jets on the sides of the bath. The client has to decide what requirement they have from a bath and then decide on which model to choose.
